Peter Macalister and Ian Evans returned from England to Seattle in early Sept, having persuaded me to let them drive my Lizzy all the way to Florida! The car had been in Evergreen Ford's showroom since our finish in July, right next to a Shelby. Meanwhile, our old friend Lynn Rehn had learned to drive a T, and is a T convert, now looking to buy one!
The Florida trip is, quite obviously, even longer than our summer cross country tour. The boys went down to LA, over to Vegas and the Grand Canyon, and up to Durango, just ahead of a snowstorm, before heading South. At Tampa, they stayed over with Milt Roorda, and joined me for the last three days over to Palm Beach.
Peter had brought over a spare axle and a new wheel. Neither was needed. Except for one flat tire, the car had no trouble at all. Peter oiled and greased everything every day, and drove about 33 mph. I have a standard T, 6 volts, no gimmicks. The generator has just quit, however, after an estimated seven or eight thousand miles.
The route map of the USA, which we all carried on the sides of the cars, now shows the Seattle to Florida leg.
May the Force be with you all,
Dolph C
